The FLO CO2 Regulator: How To Use a Cycling CO2 Regulator

We recently released the FLO Aid Bag which focuses on bike aid and first aid for cyclists. When developing the tools for the bike aid side, we focused not only on what would most likely be used, but created tools that solved problems. Let’s discuss the FLO CO2 Regulator

The Problem with CO2 Regulators

The problem with most CO2 regulators is their inability to control the CO2 flow. Many CO2 regulators require you to install the regulator on the tire first and then screw in the CO2 cartridge. Not only is this difficult, but you are limited to one tire.  Plus, without the ability to control, you have one shot with the CO2 cartridge to get it right. What if you have a double flat?

Creating the Best CO2 Regulator for Cycling

That is why we created a CO2 regulator with a flow locking dial. The locking flow dial allows you to control the release of CO2 making for easy install and less waste.

The benefits of this design:

  1. You can install the CO2 cartridge before placing the regulator on the tire. This is much easier.
  2. You have precise control over how much CO2 you let into the tire and how fast you let it enter the tire.
  3. You can stop the flow of CO2 at any time. This really comes in handy with a double flat and one CO2 canister or your friend forgot theirs!

How to Use a CO2 Regulator for Cyclist

Here are the steps to use the FLO CO2 Regulator:

  1. Close the dial of the FLO CO2 Regulator to ensure CO2 will not leak from the cartridge when installed into the regulator.
  2. Screw the CO2 canister into the FLO CO2 Regulator. You will feel the seal break and hear a small hiss until it stops. The FLO CO2 Regulator is charged and ready for use.
  3. Press the FLO CO2 Regulator onto the Presta valve.
  4. Slowly open the dial until you hear and feel the CO2 entering the tire. Control the flow of CO2 and ensure you don’t create a leak.
  5. Close the dial to stop the flow of CO2 when the tire has inflated.
  6. Repeat steps 3-5, if needed on another wheel.
